VMA is member driven and works on key issues to help our members address topics and issues to positively affect their businesses. While specific issues change from year to year, below are topics and issues VMA committees are addressing.
Government RelationsHeadquartered in the Washington, D.C. area, VMA advocates for our members by working with key government and agency decision makers on policies and regulations - from PFAS, global trade, EHS, to PFAS, and more. VMA also works with other manufacturing partners and related associations on joint issues. Our primary areas of focus include regulations and legislation surrounding PFAS and PTFE; infrastructure issues related to the Inflation Reduction Act and "Buy America Build America; workforce; taxes; trade and tariffs, and EHS activities among many others. pfas and flow controlThe industrial valve industry provides a vital role in the production of products essential to improving the quality of life of the public and protecting the planet. The current focus on banning all PFAS raises a significant threat to our industry and beyond, with the potential to create substantial and wide-ranging negative consequences to today’s society. Business IntelligenceVMA provides business intelligence to our members, including: a monthly “State of the Industry Survey” that provides data on economic trends on valve and actuator shipments in North America, Quarterly Economic Reports prepared by recognized expert firms which contain economic data and forecasted trends on end-user industries, and speakers on the topics at our Market Outlook Workshop, Annual Meeting and members-only Webinars. Workforce Development & CareersWorkforce issues from attracting new workers, retaining current workers, and transferring knowledge from those that have been in the industry for years are all of concern to members and the industry. VMA’s Strategic Plan highlights the importance of the issue with the objective to promote longevity in the workforce and to attract new workers. VMA’s various committees address these issues. Our Career Center provides both members and non-members with access to reach and recruit top industry professionals in manufacturing and engineering. Employers can search more than 10,000 resumes. Members receive reduced rates. Technical & ManufacturingInnovations and changes in both technical designs, materials, standards; and applications; as well as manufacturing issues like IIOT, cyber security, robotics, EHS topics – and many others – are discussed and highlighted for our members by our Technical and Manufacturers committees. sustainabilityVMA and its member companies recognize the challenges facing our society, including climate change, meeting energy needs, economic security, and a healthy and safe quality of life.
