UPCOMING WEBINARs

A Viable Approach to Cellular Manufacturing for High-Mix, Low-Volume Manufacturers
Dr. Shahrukh A. Irani, PhD, President, Lean and Flexible, llc
Wednesday, Oct. 21 – 3:00 to 4:00 pm (EDT)

In this webinar, Dr. Irani describes how cells were designed and implemented in a captive machine shop that produces a wide variety of parts used in different downhole drilling tool assemblies. Included is an overview of cellular manufacturing and a viable approach for implementing manufacturing cells. Dr. Irani discusses implementation of the cell design based on experience; cell design using PSFAST software and CIMCO data; work that was completed; and work that remains to be done to make the cell a factory-within-a-factory.

Dr. Irani will answer a variety of questions about cellular manufacturing, including:
  • What are the most important KPIs for a high-mix low-volume business?
  • Besides Cellular Manufacturing, what are some other strategies to reduce lead time, for example, VMI, Supplier Development, Finite Capacity Scheduling, Insourcing, etc.?
  • How do you manage short cycle orders?
Even prior to the event, if VMA members would like to learn how to overcome specific challenges and difficulties in their manufacturing operations, send your questions to Dr. Irani via email.
