About VMA |
Our members play an integral role in supporting the production of products essential to improving the quality of life of the public and protecting the planet. VMA full member companies manufacture high quality, trusted, valves, actuators, and controls; and our associate members distribute and service these products. Founded in 1938, the Valve Manufacturers Association of America is the only North American trade association that represents the interests of manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of valves, actuators, and controls. Our mission is to serve the growth and innovation of the U.S. and Canadian industrial valve industry globally by providing the forum which enhances a positive business operating environment, increases knowledge, advances technology innovations, and facilitates business and government connections. VMA is guided by our Board of Directors to deliver on five strategic priorities:
Be Member Driven: Manage the Association in a way that engages members, promotes member value, commits to diversity, and demonstrates operational excellence by providing the financial, staff and member resources needed to achieve our priorities. Member involvement has always been the key to our success and VMA offers a wide range of Committees where members can benchmark with other companies, form relationships within the industry to address issues together, and contribute expertise and guidance.
Encourage industry and member company growth, interaction and innovation: Advance member company efforts in growing their business by providing information, research, business opportunities and a platform to address and solve issues. Our programs and issues are driven by our member committees which help to guide VMA.
Be the unified voice of the industrial valve industry: Represent the valve industry as a sector of manufacturing that is vibrant, attractive, innovative, and responsible. VMA’s activities in workforce, government affairs, and with others in the industrial valve value chain help us reach audiences important to our industry.
Demonstrate thought leadership and provide industry expertise and education: Educate members, end users and the industry to facilitate innovation, efficiencies in production and distribution, increases in health, safety and environmental protection; and to promote the proper use of flow control equipment throughout the world. Our quarterly VALVE Magazine, various events held throughout the year, and white papers are examples of who we accomplish this priority.
Represent the industry to policy makers: Enhance advocacy and influence government activities to create a positive business operating environment and opportunities for industry growth. Our policy and regulatory agenda is developed by a newly formed Government Affairs Committee.
