Exida Certifies Velan Torqseal Triple-Offset Butterfly Valve for Functional Integrity

exida, an accredited global certification company, has
certified the Velan Torqseal™ triple-offset butterfly valve for functional
integrity, ensuring that it meets the functional safety requirements for Safety
Integrity Level (SIL) 3 capable per IEC 61508.
"A Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA)
was performed on the Torqseal family of valves, which confirmed their
suitability for use in safety applications,” said Evaluating Assessor Chris
O’Brien. "Velan’s development process
was reviewed and we were impressed by its thoroughness and robustness. Velan
demonstrated a solid understanding of the issues necessary to achieve high
levels of functional safety.”

Velan. "The demands of exida’s certification process have helped us to focus
our processes and product design on the real requirements of functional safety
