MSS Awards Scholarship to Mechanical Engineering Undergrad

John V. Ballun, President of MSS, announces the award of the 2011 MSS Scholarship to South Dakota State engineering student, Mr. Jacob Lueders.  Leuders majors in mechanical engineering and minors in mathematics and military science.  The $1,000 award was presented to Mr. Lueders by Mr. Wally Stommes, President of StoneL Corporation, a subsidiary of Metso Automation, an MSS member company.  

The MSS Scholarship Program provides annual cash award(s) of $1,000 to one or more engineering and material science students interested in the Valve and Fittings Industry and whose parent or employer is a member company of MSS.

Mr. Lueders submitted a scholarship application along with an academic transcript and essay on How Standards Developing Organizations Impact Industry Worldwide.  A committee of engineers representing MSS member companies reviewed the application and recommended Mr. Lueders’ application for approval by the MSS Board of Directors.
