Legislative Outlook: Change is Coming, Will You Be Ready?

President Biden’s governing majorities are on the line in next month’s midterm elections. By any metric, it appears that the House will flip to Republican control while the Senate remains a toss-up (and could remain at 50-50). As has been the case in the last many elections, how independents vote will be the key to the election outcome.

During the next 3 weeks there are things you can do to participate in the election process such as:

• Host a Plant Tour – Congressmen and women can and will take the opportunity to visit plants located in their districts. Guidance on how to set up and run a plant visit is available in our Plant Tour Guide located here, and on the Members-Only section of the VMA website. Don't forget to share your Plant Tour with us!
• Attend a Town Hall – All members of Congress are back in their districts now and this is a good way to interact with them and let them know your views
• Prepare for the Lame Duck Session – Take this opportunity to identify issues of importance to your company and nail down a strategy to prepare for a likely divided government in 2023-24
