Dresser Consolidated® and Dresser Masoneilan® today
announced that they have been awarded more than $20 million in control valve
contracts in China as part of a major initiative in the country to fulfill
growing energy demands with nuclear-based power.
The Chinese-designed CPR-1000 reactor plants, based on
French technology, are under construction in Hongyanghe, Ningde, Yanjiang,
Fangjiashan and Fuqing. The pressurized water reactors will become operational
between 2012 and 2016, producing 1,000 MWe each – enough to power around 1
million homes by Western standards. Dresser Consolidated and Dresser Masoneilan
will supply valves, which are an integral part of the nuclear power plants’
conventional islands, and operational service and support for the estimated
60-year life of the reactors. More…
