Flowserve Receives Valve Orders from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co.

Flowserve Corp. announced a multimillion-dollar order from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. for main steam isolation valves (MSIVs) and main feedwater isolation valves (MFIVs) and feedwater motor-operated valves. The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The valves were purchased for use at Taishan Units 1 and 2, Chinese EPR (CEPR) pressurized water reactors that are currently under construction in Guangdong Province, China and scheduled for commercial operation in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Taishan Units 1 and 2 represent the first two reactors based on Areva's EPR technology to be built in China. By 2010, the Chinese government plans to increase nuclear generating capacity to 40 GWe, according to the World Nuclear Association. More…
