Mastergear Receives Order for Pipeline Between Russia and Germany

The new design of sub-sea gears (patent pending) with internal, intelligent compensation have been ordered by Galperti Engineering in Italy. They will be installed in the Nord Stream pipeline at approximately 1000 feet of depth. Nord Stream is a gas pipeline that will link Russia and the European Union via the Baltic Sea. It will transport natural gas to supply both businesses and private households. Delivery of these units is scheduled for early June 2009. The units’ output torques range from 47,000 in. lbs (5400Nm) to 200,000 in. lbs (24000Nm).

The new line of sub-sea actuators has been hyperbarically tested to 13,550 (4000m.) of depth without any decay in performance or appearance. This product line is available with manual or ROV inputs with output torque capabilities up to 1,200,000 in. lbs (140000Nm). More…
