Combating Complacency in Manufacturing: Safety, Customer Focus and Technology

About the Program

Attendees to the Manufacturing track will examine how to battle complacency in three areas: Safety, Customer Focus and Technology. This track will cover topics such as “Smart Factories”, how to keep safety and customer services foremost in your employee’s mind on a day-to-day basis, and the ramifications of being complacent on the job regarding safety….even for a moment. This track will also feature a demonstration on additive manufacturing of valve components. Panel discussions, the presentation of case studies, and networking opportunities will round out the Manufacturing track education for attendees.

MORE ABOUT THE SESSIONS AND DEMONSTRATION

The Manufacturing track features more of an in-depth examination of topics, along with panel discussions and a demonstration of Additive Manufacturing. Session topics include:

COMBATING COMPLACANCY – SAFETY

KEYNOTE PRESENTER: Brad Livingston, Motivational Speaker, Just a Second Ago
Brad Livingston was involved in back to back explosions that were 100% preventable. The contributing factors to these explosions were the same as what exists in every type of company everywhere. Brad overcame a 5% chance of surviving his injuries and shares valuable lessons that unfortunately, he learned the hard way.

COMBATING COMPLACENCY – STAYING AHEAD OF THE CURVE WITH TECHNOLOGY

John Tuohy, Senior Account Manager, FANUC America Corporation
This session will look at a play on the numbers from a manufacturing perspective on the following subjects: economic data, increases in productivity, skills gap and how machine tool consumption correlates to machine tending robot growth.

COMBATING COMPLACENCY - CUSTOMER FOCUS

Danielle Zaft, Senior Strategy Consultant, Yastrow and Associates
This session will focus on how to keep your customer from becoming “faceless” in the manufacturing world. Creating a compelling, personalized customer experience requires buy-in from every employee and a keen understanding of why they matter.

DEMONSTRATION: 3D ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Steven Anderson, Renishaw, Inc.
Stephen Anderson, AM Business Development Manager – USA for Renishaw, has worked with VMA member companies to translate valve components into 3D-printed parts. He will present several case studies developed through this project.
