Valve Basics Seminar & Exhibits

Nearly 2,000 people have taken one of VMA's highly rated Valve Basics courses since the program was introduced in 2009. Valves, Actuators & Controls 101 features 15 individual lessons along with a hands-on learning experience that focuses on products covered in the classroom portion of the program.

 

To provide more space for an expanded hands-on experience, we are holding our next event at the Houston Area Safety Council in Pasadena, TX. The council has a state-of-the-art training facility and abundant workshop space where products for the "Valve Petting Zoo" can be displayed.

 

In addition, a tabletop exhibition is held early in the evening of the first day, providing attendees with additional opportunities to ask questions and learn more about a variety of valve industry products and services.

 

 

Who Should Attend?

 

This course was created specifically for newcomers to the industry so it is ideally suited for recent graduates and engineers in the early stages of their careers. The course also works well for:

  • A variety of professionals employed at plants and facilities that use or work with valves, actuators and controls
  • More experienced professionals with knowledge of one specific product type but in need of an overview of the entire spectrum of valves, actuators and controls.
  • New employees at valve, actuator and control companies
  • Personnel from EPC or AEC firms who are involved with specifying valves
  • Distributors and manufacturers' reps who sell these products
  • Companies that provide supplies and services to the industry
  • And anyone who could use a refresher course on valves, actuators and controls!

The Valve Basics course has also been well-received by upper-level mechanical engineering students who have attended previous seminars. Their participation is made possible by scholarships from association members and others interested in supporting valve training for the next generation.

 

WHO SHOULD EXHIBIT?

  • U.S. or Canadian companies that sell or provide services to valve, actuator and control manufacturers and end users of those products or services.
  • Non-member manufacturers, suppliers and distributor/channel partners may register, but only if they are U.S. or Canadian based and would qualify for VMA or VRC membership.

ATTENDEE REGISTRATION FEES

Registration is open to all in the industry. The following registration fees and types are as follows:

  • FULL REGISTRATION - EARLY BIRD THROUGH JULY 31, 2017: First Registrant is $1,050 and $975 for additional registrants from same company; this includes all lessons, hands-on workshop hours and exhibit area entry) NOTE: Fees go up after July 31.
  • EXHIBIT-ONLY ATTENDEE: Exhibit-only registration is $95 and allows entrance into the exhibit area on Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.

This full registration above covers breakfast, lunch and breaks each day plus an evening reception in the exhibit area on Tuesday, Oct. 3. In addition, attendees receive a manual and earn a VMA Certificate of Completion for education credits, as well as a thumb drive with larger slides plus presenter notes. Exhibit-only registration includes food and drinks during exhibit hours only; it does not include entry into the seminar portion of the course.

 

EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION FEES

EARLY-BIRD PRICING IN EFFECT THROUGH JULY 31! The cost for a tabletop at the Valve Basics exhibit program for VMA/VRC members is $490 ($550 starting Aug. 1) and $590 ($690 starting Aug. 1) for non-members. The exhibit registration fee covers your table, attendee list, and reception food and drinks for two company representatives. The fee to register additional personnel (above 2) is $95 each. Please note exhibit hours are on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.

 

Seminar attendance is not included in exhibit registration. If you wish to register your representatives to attend the Valve Basics Seminar, you will receive a discount of $100 off the current attendee price.


WHERE TO STAY

A list of suggested hotels in the Pasadena area will be provided by VMA when registration opens in mid-June.

 

MEETING CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellations received up to 30 days before the event are refundable, minus a 5% registration service charge
  • Cancellations received between 15 and 29 days before the event are 75% refundable.
  • Due to hotel and other event guarantees, cancellations received between 0 and 14 days prior to the event the day are non-refundable.
  • Substitutions can be made until the day before the event.
