Valve Manufacturers Association Projects $4 Billion in Industrial Valve Shipments
WASHINGTON, DC (Feb. 29. 2008) - VMA's forecast for 2008 calls for industrial valve shipments to total $4 billion in 2008, up from $3.8 billion in 2007. Valves are supplied to a number of different end-user industries, with the largest number of North American Valves being used in Water & Wastewater (16.3%), Chemical (16.3%), Petroleum Production (12.3%), Petroleum Refining (11.5%) and Power Generation (11.1%). Other industries served include Pulp & Paper (6.3%), Oil & Gas Transmission (5.7%) and Commercial Construction (5.4%). In addition, VMA has released a 10-year history of industrial valve shipments by product type. In 2007, Automated Valves were the biggest sellers, representing $1181.4 million of the $3.8 billion sold by North American industrial valve makers. Ball Valves ranked second, with sales of $690 million, followed by Gate, Globe and Check Valves ($556 million), Industrial Butterfly Valves ($385.5 million), Plug Valves ($252 million) and Pressure-Relief Valves ($219.5). NEW! The North American Catalog of Valves is Available in Print and Online
WASHINGTON, DC ( Feb. 12, 2008) – The North American Catalog of Valves—a sourcebook for buyers of valves, actuators and controls—is now available in both a print edition and as an Online "Product Finder." The catalog features 65 VMA members and more than 40 product categories. In addition to a 4-page product matrix, and quarter-page listings for all participating VMA members, the print catalog also contains information about different types of valve applications, as well as a valve specification checklist. The Online Product Finder features the same companies as the print edition, but adds an interactive component. Users can click on the type of product they are seeking, then receive a list of manufacturers who make that product.
